The CSRS Delegation Participates in the Kuala Lumpur International Conference
Dr. Abdul Baqi Amin, director of the Center for Strategic and Regional Studies (CSRS) alongside with a delegation consisted of Dr. Misbahullah Abdul Baqi, Dr. Fazal Hadi Wazin and Prof. Mohammad Haroon Khatibi, members of the Academic Board of the CSRS, participated in the conference entitled “The Role of Freedom and Democracy in Peace and Security “, which was held in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur. The organizers of the mentioned conference had officially invited the CSRS from Afghanistan.
The Conference was held on 27 and 28 November 2015, in which 250 intellectuals and members of the Islamic movements from around the world participated.
This was the second conference of the conference series which was launched a year ago. The main topic of the Conference was focused on how the Muslim World can have desirable governments, good management and good governance, and how can it bring a peaceful democratic change without murder and war, and make the countries to move toward prosperity and advancement.
Participants of the conference called for the introduction of successful experience of democracy in Turkey and Malaysia, and stressed that these two countries were able to come out, without violence and considerable losses, from the problems the Islamic world is faced with right now. They called on the international community and encouraged it to support those Muslim communities that are struggling to revive freedom, democracy and Islamic civilization, which are in the interest of the entire humanity.
The conference emphasized on cooperation among the Islamic world and a network became established between the Islamic research centers in order to coordinate their researches and studies, to enhance their impact and to continue their activities more effectively.
At the end of the conference, the delegation of CSRS met Mahathir Mohammad, former Malaysian Prime Minister, and provided him with the details about the Afghan situation, and asked him to make attempts to end the Afghan war.
It is worth mentioning that in “The Role of Freedom and Democracy in Peace and Security” conference, the scientific award of Mahathir Mohammad, which will be given to the best academic essay in the Muslim world, announced. Besides that, two other awards for youth and women were also announced; they will be given to the best academic essays in mentioned fields, too.
